Charitable Work
For a number of years now the artists and designers of Flux Design have hosted and participated in a variety of charitable events. Many artists and designers in the Milwaukee area, including myself, have participated in this charitable endeavor for our community. The most prominent event we have hosted is that of, Feed Your Soul (FYS), a silent auction event that raises money for Feeding America. At FYS artists either donate a piece of art or can choose to convert an ordinary wooden bowl into art. When I was working with Flux full-time I found events like this to be one of the only situations where I could justify the time to make art outside work. Events like these afforded me the opportunity to explore new and creative ideas. I'm sharing these sculptures because they have had a significant roll to play in the creative direction I'm now in.
Some of the other events I've been involved in are Celebrating Brad, raising funds for cancer research and MIAD scholarships. Art In Flux, raising money for MIAD scholarships. SRAM Part Project raising money for World Bicycle Relief, witch is an exciting foundation, which supplies bicycles to impoverished people around the world. This provides people with a means of transportation, a crucial element for the acquisition of things such as food, water, education, and employment.
